Fairfield, Queensland, Australia
Fairfield Writers Group is a mix of beginner and experienced writers who meet the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at the Brisbane City Council Library in Fairfield Gardens Shopping Centre, Fairfield road, Fairfield, Queensland. Our passion is writing and we work hard at our craft. Our aim is to encourage, support and help each other to reach new heights in our writing. New members are always made welcome and usually whisked off to the local coffee shop at the end of meetings for sustenance and socialisation with the rest of the crew.

Welcome to Fairfield Writers Group

We hope you will stop for a while and browse our site and if you like what you see, please visit us again soon.

    7th of May 2011

Present: Anna, Helga, Jennifer, Lorraine, Lou, Maarten
Absent: Findlay
Chairing this meeting: Anna
Taking minutes this meeting: Jennifer

The following key points were discussed in this meeting:
Book format
The group agreed that the list of contents would be sequenced as per the log lines and the format would be the same as for the 2009 anthology.
Where one author has submitted two stories, the bio will refer to the first.
Action:            Lorraine to “mini-edit” the author profiles so as to fit the page

If an FWG member wishes to publish their story elsewhere, it will be necessary to acknowledge that it was first published in our anthology.
We would be pledging our loyalty to the book by not publishing on the internet. .              Decision was reached on the sketch for the cover.
Action             Lorraine to write up a copyright policy and Anna to place on the blog.

It was agreed that we would postpone putting the second anthology on the internet until the appropriate time.
A flat one-off licence fee of approx. $100 would apply.
            Suggested options of placement:
·         Own site (but would need to be promoted)
·         Amazon
·         Lulu.com – user pays;  print on demand;  hard copies can be ordered and will be mailed to customer
·         Write-it now (UK) – welcome book reviews
·         Other writing groups
Action   Lorraine to send other options of where the book could be placed and she will                    send out to the group, along with the costs of what is involved.
Action   Lorraine to make arrangements for the first anthology to be made into an E-book.
The group agreed to the following for marketing the anthology:
·         Fairfield Gardens Shopping Centre (initially contact Centre Management about placing on Community Notice Board)
·         Fairfield Library – posters, pamphlets and business cards
·         Bookstore Café, Garden City – they sell new and used books

Procedures Manual
It was agreed that a procedures manual should be developed.
